If you think your current skincare hasn’t really gotten you anywhere, it’s time to try French anti-aging products. We all admire French women in the way they take care of their skin with French pharmacy products, the way they own their imperfections, and how they ooze confidence. Well, I’ve realized that once you’ve got the first one covered, the rest follows. And with that goal, I’ve listed below some of the best anti-aging products from French skincare brands.

Personally, my interest in French skincare started when my dermatologist recommended a few hypoallergenic products from Avene for my sensitive skin. And it got bigger when I tried French luxury anti-aging products from well-known brands like Lancome, which are often overlooked because of the assumption that they’re overly hyped and not worth it. And when I finally got a facial where my facialist used only French products, I was sold!

These products deserve your attention. And let me tell you this; some of them are not your typical, super-by-the-book anti-aging products where every active ingredient is disclosed in percentages. Some of them are mostly feel-good products but with instantly visible results. And I think it’s more than okay to expect that certain level of self-indulgent, feel-good factor from your products. If you’re still with me, find below the best French skincare brands for anti-aging and their best products to deal with wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging.

Caudalie

Caudalie is a French skincare brand with a focus on natural ingredients. They’re widely known for their patented resveratrol. Their products are scented and they smell amazing. But they’re suitable for sensitive skin too.

This is their best-selling antioxidant serum made with resveratrol. Resveratrol is an antioxidant that fends off free radicals and prevents them from damaging your skin. On a side note, antioxidants offer a gentler approach to dealing with wrinkles as opposed to more hardcore ingredients like retinoids. This makes antioxidants the best anti-aging ingredients no matter your skin type. The serum is also incredibly hydrating because it plumps up the skin with vegan collagen, hyaluronic acid, and squalane. It leaves the skin looking radiant, smooth, and even. It’s oil-free so it’s perfect for oily and acne-prone skin too.

Institut Esthederm

Esthederm is owned by the same company that owns Bioderma, which you might better remember from their cult-favorite micellar water. According to my facialist, Estehderm is like an upgraded version when you’re looking for more clinical-grade ingredients with a more scientific approach to skincare.

Besides face masks and scrubs, which I found weirdly satisfying during my facial even though I don’t like rubbing my face, Esthederm Institute has this exfoliating serum to target uneven skin texture and tone. As you probably already know, alpha and beta hydroxy acids like glycolic acid and salicylic acid are right next to retinoids if you want to stimulate skin turnover and collagen production. This exfoliating serum combines glycolic, lactic, salicylic, and citric acids to retexturize the skin, soften fine lines, and fade skin discolorations. It’s pretty scented, so you’ll definitely smell it. But you’ll love how it brightens the skin, reduces dullness, and softens skin texture.

Avene

Avene is most known for being dermatologist-approved and recommended. Their products are mostly hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin. It’s practically a French pharmacy staple.

We all love a good retinol product. It’s the holy grail anti-ager when it comes to increasing skin turnover to reveal smoother skin. A not-so-popular vitamin A derivative is retinaldehyde, which is slightly more potent than retinol. So if you’ve outgrown your retinol serum or cream, you can try this beloved French anti-aging cream made with retinaldehyde. It’s especially great for mature skin with more visible signs of aging. Because this is in cream form, it’s much gentler than a serum. But still, there’s a less potent option available if you want to test out the waters first.

Vichy

A relatively affordable, widely popular French skincare brand is Vichy. They have dermatologist-tested anti-aging serums and creams. And from my personal experience, they utilize silicones way too much. You won’t see this type of silicone-rich creams in Walmart a lot or on the bathroom shelf of a typical American consumer. That’s why I say that their serums are the ones to go for.

As much as I’m straight-up annoyed by some of their products, I absolutely love others. And this is one of them. Their best seller is their hyaluronic acid serum. That’s a good product but it doesn’t really do much for your wrinkles in the long run. This hyaluronic acid serum, on the other hand, contains the ultimate antioxidant vitamin C. So you can plump up fine lines, reduce dehydration, and also brighten your skin, and fade hyperpigmentation. It absorbs fast, disappears into the skin, and leaves the skin looking radiant and even.

Lancome

Lancome is a luxury, high-end French skincare brand. They wrap their products with fancy packaging, which factors into the price too. And they’re far from minimal. You’ll see a lot of botanical ingredients in their products as well as some synthetic anti-agers like peptides. They’re the epitome of feel-good skincare.

Lancome Absolue Revitalizing & Brightening Rich Cream

This is my latest obsession and whatever I put on my face, I like to top it off with this anti-aging moisturizer. This is a brightening moisturizer formulated around rose extracts. And it has a propriety ingredient to boost moisture and promote firmer skin. It’s also brimming with several antioxidant-rich oils as well as coconut oil. What this moisturizer does is it blankets your skin, keeps it moisturized literally all day long, and leaves a dewy finish on the skin. Your wrinkles and lines appear smoother, especially if you take the time to massage your face with the cream.

Nuxe

Nuxe’s edge is clean, natural-origin products. They offer a sensory experience too with feel-good products right from Mother Nature’s bosom. They have creams and serums but people love their organic oils!

Though a face oil isn’t the first product that comes to mind concerning anti-aging, it might very well be when it has the right oils. This is one of their cult-favorite multi-purpose oil you can use on your face, your body, and your hair. You read that right! Normally, I’m skeptical about these types of does-it-all things but this changed my skin during winter! Though there are other options with different oils, this particular one is made with 2 oils, plum oil, and sesame seed oil. Both of them are rich in antioxidants but also incredibly nourishing, which is great if you have dry, dull skin. It’s an absolute treat for the senses and has a super energizing scent and a very light texture. You can use it after you apply your moisturizer to lock everything and minimize the appearance of wrinkles while enjoying glowing skin.

Filorga

Filorga is a French anti-aging skincare brand. So it offers a variety of products with different ingredients to address all signs of aging like dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin texture. Their story goes way back to the 70s when a French doctor discovered an injectable and wanted to extend its use into daily products. As you can see, they started off pretty medicinal and clinical. Their products are not cheap but they’re worth every penny.

This is an eye cream with elegant, twist-up packaging. And here’s the thing; whatever is out there that’s capable of plumping your skin, this one has it. It’s formulated with amino acids, peptides, hydrators, and antioxidants. The French anti-aging eye cream addresses fine lines and dark circles under the eyes. It fills in wrinkles and smoothes out the appearance of lines with amino acids. It brightens the under-eyes and minimizes dark circles with vitamin C and niacinamide.

Dior

A French brand that needs no introduction. Well, I usually think less of a brand when it does everything; fragrance, makeup, skincare, accessories, and clothing? Do one thing! But this is a rare exception. And I can only speak for their makeup and skincare and I swear by their serums. Again, you don’t always need to have a squeaky clean, fragrance-free, extremely minimal product to see results.

Dior Capture Youth Matte Maximizer Age-Delay Mattifying Serum - Best French Anti-Aging Products

First of all, this is a lactic acid serum. Now, compare this to a regular, over-the-counter lactic acid serum where words like “peeling, irritation, basic” come to mind. This is far from it. Because we usually consider exfoliating serums as treatment serums and we don’t expect an “experience” from them. This serum is for when you do! It’s a gentle lactic acid serum made for oilier skin types because it has a mattifying finish. So you will come back to this not just when you want exfoliation but also when you want to beautify your complexion. The beautifully scented serum blurs out any imperfections on the skin and gently resurfaces it without visibly peeling it. It’s gold for mature skin with sensitivity.

Darphin

Darphin is a luxury skincare brand where nature meets science. Their products include your regular serums and creams in addition to essential oils and skincare capsules. Think of them as your top-class spa products.

This is my second favorite from the brand. The first one is Intral Broad Spectrum SPF 50. This super moisturizing eye cream combines Argireline, the famous peptide that instantly smoothes fine lines, with antioxidant-rich botanicals as well as brightening caffeine. Its thick, buttery base applies like a dream and infuses the eye area with restorative ingredients. It’s especially great for dry, flaky under-eyes that need a makeover.

La Roche Posay

La Roche Posay is one of the most popular French skincare brands that offer amazing anti-aging products. It’s not a luxury brand so it’s affordable for most people. La Roche Posay is also a dermatologist-favorite brand because of its hypoallergenic products.

This is their retinol serum which contains encapsulated retinol to minimize irritation and dryness from the ingredient. The formula also contains niacinamide to mitigate damage to your skin barrier. It also has a very hydrating, smoothing base. It’s French, it’s anti-aging, and it’s affordable. You practically have no excuse to not try this one. It’s oil-free, and suitable for all skin types too.

So these are some of the best French anti-aging products you can try to reduce signs of aging while enjoying the French approach to skincare. Other French skincare brands I can recommend are Embryolisse, Yves Rocher, and L’Occitane. But concerning anti-aging, I think the ones I mentioned above are superior.

Again, if you’ve been following an anti-aging skincare routine that works out for your skin, great! But if you feel like you need to branch out a little, French anti-aging skincare is definitely worth it. It tickles your instant gratification. And it’s far from what YouTube dermatologists impose on us as if freaking out about every single thing in your products is the only way to go about taking care of your skin. Clearly, it isn’t. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be drooling at the mere sight of a Parisian woman enjoying a full-blown sensory, scented, feel-good skincare routine. Sometimes, you just gotta let go and let Lancome.
