Jade roller has been such a staple in my skincare routine that I feel like I arrange my whole skincare routine around it instead of vice versa. So lately, I’ve been shopping for products with one question in mind: what can I use with a Jade roller? If you’re a fellow face roller, then you know the struggle of your roller not gliding smoothly on the skin.
I try to use my Jade roller to disperse every product in my routine. But it’s practically impossible. It’s supposed to be a calming and relaxing experience but it’s kind of giving me anxiety knowing that I can’t use it with a face toner!
Frankly, I wouldn’t mind seeing products with labels like Jade-friendly right next to vegan-friendly! Some products simply don’t help out with your face rolling experience.
Even though I’ve heard this a ton of times, I still kept trying. You know, just to make sure. And yes, I agree. Certain skincare products work exceptionally well with a Jade roller while others aren’t meant to be paired with a face tool.
Let me put you up to speed on that one. Creams and moisturizers absorb easily and don’t make the best choices. The best products to use with a Jade roller are face oils and certain types of serums.
For your Jade roller to glide smoothly on the skin, your oil or serum needs to stay on the skin a little longer than, say, a moisturizer. You need that slippery feel so that you can massage your face. Otherwise, it feels like you’re dry-humping your skin with crystals.
But here’s the thing. You can’t go out of your way and get an oil that’s not even suitable for your skin type just to Jade roll with it. Because it’s not only about massaging your skin. It’s also about what you’re massaging it with.
The products you pair with your Jade roller need to help you out too. For that reason, I’ve put together the best skincare products to use with a Jade roller depending on your needs. But first, here’s what to look for!
How to Choose a Product to Use With a Jade Roller
Keep these two things in mind: texture and ingredients.
The product you use with a Jade roller needs to be rich in emollients and occlusives. This translates to oils and substances that have a slippery (emollient) feel. Serums are usually water-based. They disappear into the skin and don’t work well with a Jade roller. But there are some good options which you’ll find below.
Be careful with certain oils that contain active ingredients like retinol. When you’re using a retinol oil with a Jade roller, you’re basically moving the product all around your face. And this can be an issue for people with sensitive skin. You can’t risk bringing retinol closer to the eye area. So the texture is important, but so is the ingredient.
May it be for soothing the skin, energizing it, or hydrating it, below are some of the best serums and oils to use with a Jade roller.
1. Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate
Personally, I think this is the best skincare product made with lavender, ever! And I buy it over and over again especially for pairing it with my Jade roller. This is a serum-oil hybrid in that it’s too lightweight to pass as oil but too rich to pass as serum.
It’s the perfect formula that slowly absorbs allowing you to massage your face into healthier skin. Apply the treatment in the evening before bedtime to calm down with relaxing lavender essential oil. The nourishing formula also packs squalane and evening primrose oil to boost moisture, helping you wake up to rested and fresh skin.
Key Ingredients: Lavender oil, evening primrose oil, squalane
Key Benefits: Calms, moisturizes
Skin Type: All
Size: 1 oz/30 ml

2. Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil
For dry skin that needs special care, pair your Jade roller with this face oil. It’s all marula oil, which is rich in antioxidants, and skin-restoring fatty acids.
It’s like the gentlest form of anti-aging. Even though the oil absorbs fast, it stays on the skin long enough to give your skin that slippery feel for Jade rolling without the sticky feel.

Skin Type: Normal, dry, combination

4. Sunday Riley C.E.O Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil
Trust me when I say that this is the best Jade roller oil for glowing skin. And the fact that you’re massaging it in is the absolute best way to enhance the effects. This is a vitamin C oil and it’s actually a treatment oil to target hyperpigmentation and dullness and free radical damage on the skin.
But it’s not just the ingredients, it’s the dewy finish of the product that’s addictive! While you’re collecting the collagen-boosting benefits of vitamin C and the brightening effects of turmeric, you get to enjoy glowing and radiant skin. Roll away!

5. Alpha-H Vitamin E Serum with 1% Ceramide Complex
And speaking of glowing skin, this is another personal favorite. This is a vitamin E serum with a glowy finish. Vitamin E, by nature, has a more emollient feel to it. So even in just a little high concentration, you can feel its creamy, moisturizing feel on the skin.
This one wraps your skin with moisture all thanks to ceramides, macadamia seed oil, and squalane. As you Jade roll with it, it slowly absorbs into your skin but leaves it looking radiant and feeling supple and bouncy.

Skin Type: All
Size: 0.85 oz/25 ml

6. One Love Organics Botanical C Facial Serum
This is a serum that’s more on the emollient side as it’s easy on the humectants and pretty heavy on the oils. This is the kind of face serum you want to use with a Jade roller. It still absorbs easily but does not disappear, giving you more than enough time to enjoy a 10-minute self-pamper with your Jade roller.
Besides vitamin C, it has green tea seed oil, which is excellent for reactive skin. Other slippery goodies include shea oil, rosehip oil, and meadowfoam oil. It’s all-natural and organic, and a deeply nourishing face serum to use with a Jade roller.
Key Ingredients: Vitamin C, vitamin E, green tea seed oil, rosehip oil

7. The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil
Rosehip oil is famously known for its high vitamin A content. And because of that, it’s madly anti-aging. Not only that, but it also helps with acne and congested skin as well.
Either way, this anti-acne, anti-wrinkle goodie also happens to have the perfect texture to go well with your Jade roller. This organic oil is the most affordable face oil to use with a Jade roller.

This one is an amazing face oil that soothes and relaxes. It’s the perfect match for your Jade roller. It contains anti-inflammatory black cumin oil, antioxidant-rich rosemary essential oil, and soothing chamomile oil.
I love the scent and how it wakes up the senses. This one will lock moisture in the skin while your Jade roller boosts circulation and radiance.

9. Versed Sunday Morning Antioxidant Oil-Serum
This is another serum-oil hybrid that goes on light but boasts a bunch of oils. It packs hyaluronic acid and glycerin to replenish dehydrated skin. And it contains vitamin E, moringa oil, and camellia oil to lock everything in with added soothing benefits.
With a formula like this one, you don’t need a separate Jade rolling routine. Because this affordable serum/oil is not just for rolling the skin but also excellent for nourishing the skin.

11. Kora Organics Noni Radiant Eye Oil
It’s not a common practice to use oil for the under-eye area. But when you have very dry, even flaky under-eyes, you might benefit from the moisture-boosting benefits of a treatment oil made especially for the eye area. This one actually has a roller tip to apply the oil. And it’s even made with rose quartz crystals.
But you can always spread the oil using your Jade roller. It’s made with incredibly nourishing avocado oil, sunflower seed oil, and macadamia nut oil. It’s the perfect match for the smaller side of your Jade roller! But as a general rule of thumb, don’t use occlusive products like oils for the eye area unless you have very dry skin. You can give yourself milia!
Key Ingredients: Noni extract, rosehip oil, macadamia oil
Key Benefits: Plumps fine lines under eyes, depuffs, brightens
Skin Type: All, except for sensitive

Key Benefits: Gurads skin against free radicals, calms, replenishes
Skin Type: All
Size: 1 oz/30 ml
Good To Know: Vegan, cruelty-free
So these are some of the best Jade roller oils and serums. I love, love Kiehl’s Midnight Concentrate and I swear by it as an overall effective nighttime treatment. If you’re going to use it just for Jade rolling, get the mini size. It’s more budget-friendly. And I can assure you that it’ll last you a very long time!
To make your serum or oil work better with your Jade roller, use the dropper to apply the product. Instead of getting a few drops in the palm of your hands and pressing the product into the skin, be more liberal with the application.
And drop the product directly on the skin. When Jade rolling, you can afford to overdo it a little. When you’re done massaging, press the remaining product in and bring it down to your neck as well.
